Using Airpane

Show your iPhone’s screen on a Windows PC over Wi-Fi. This page covers connecting, screenshots and recordings, the full version and updates.

Getting started

  1. On the PC: unzip and run airpane.exe. The first time, Windows asks whether Airpane may use the network — choose Allow. The window shows the PC’s name and a 4-digit code.
  2. On the iPhone: open the Airpane app on the same Wi-Fi and pick the PC from the list.
  3. Type the code shown on the PC. It is checked at once and saved, so next time it’s one tap.
  4. Tap Show, then Start Broadcast. The iPhone’s screen appears in the PC window. To stop, tap the red bar at the top of the iPhone’s screen, or press Disconnect on the PC.

While showing

While a phone is showing, the window holds only its screen on black, turned the way the phone is held. Move the mouse to bring up the bar at the bottom: Always on top, Screenshot, Record, Full screen and Disconnect. It hides again two seconds after the mouse stops.

Everything on the iPhone — notifications too — shows on the PC. Before presenting or teaching, turn on a Focus such as Do Not Disturb on the iPhone.

Screenshots and recordings

Screenshot saves the phone’s screen at full size as a PNG; Record writes an MP4 straight from the phone’s own video (no re-encoding, so it stays sharp). Press the red timer to stop. Files go to Pictures\Airpane and Videos\Airpane, or to a folder you choose in Settings. A message at the top offers Open folder.

The code and this PC’s name

The 4-digit code keeps others on the same Wi-Fi from showing their screen on your PC. Each iPhone types it once. New code makes a new one (phones then ask again); Settings can also make a new code at every launch. Ten wrong codes in a row make a new code by themselves. The name iPhones list can be changed in Settings › This PC.

Tray and starting with Windows

Closing the window leaves Airpane waiting in the tray; when an iPhone connects the window comes back by itself. The tray icon’s dot shows the state (green: showing, red: recording); its menu has Open Airpane, Disconnect and Quit Airpane. Turn on Start with Windows in Settings to have it waiting after every sign-in, or turn off Keep waiting when closed to quit with the window.

If the iPhone can’t find the PC

  • Airpane must be open on the PC (or waiting in the tray).
  • Both must be on the same Wi-Fi. Guest networks and some office networks keep devices apart.
  • If the PC window says Windows Firewall blocks Airpane, press Fix network access and allow the Windows prompt.
  • On the iPhone, Local Network must be on for Airpane: Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

Full version

The iPhone app is free. The PC app has every feature for 7 days; after that the PC still finds your iPhone and checks its code, but showing the screen needs the full version.

  • Windows: buy at doublehash.app/airpane. The licence key appears right after payment — paste it into Settings › Licence (or the dialog that opens after the trial) and press Activate. The key works on your own computers, offline.
  • Lost the key? Open doublehash.app/airpane?txn=… with the order ID from Paddle’s receipt email, or write to support@doublehash.app.

Updating

  • iPhone: the App Store installs updates.
  • Windows download (zip): Airpane checks once a day and shows Update to … next to Settings when a new version is out. Download the new zip, quit Airpane (tray icon › Quit Airpane), and replace the old folder. Settings, the code and the licence key stay.

What’s new

0.2 — October 2026

  • First release: the iPhone’s screen live on a Windows PC, a 4-digit code checked once per PC, screenshots and MP4 recording, always on top, tray and start with Windows, ten languages.
